We are thrilled to share the incredible success of Year 1 of our partnership with Hume City Council through the 2024 Community Grant. Thanks to this funding, Enable has been able to provide essential support to jobseekers from disadvantaged backgrounds, including people with disabilities and migrants. This program is one of our key social enterprise initiatives, aimed at improving employment pathway opportunities for people with disabilities and fostering jobs for diversity and inclusion.
From January to October 2024, we’ve engaged 62 participants in our Greener Futures Employability Skills Program, far exceeding our initial goal of 25 participants. This growth has been made possible through strong partnerships with local specialist schools, NDIS support coordinators, and employment providers, who have referred participants to the program. Our employment opportunities model focuses on practical skills development, including ewaste recycling, and paid disability jobs, with $21,212 contributed to full award wages for 4 positions within Enable.
Our IT asset disposition and data sanitization services have grown significantly, providing not only a sustainable solution to electronic waste recycling but also work and learning opportunities and pathways to paid employment. This unique approach supports our mission of creating a social enterprise business that delivers both social and environmental benefits.
Looking Ahead
As we move into Years 2 and 3 of this program, we’re excited to continue growing, creating more job opportunities for those facing disadvantages, and contributing to a more inclusive and sustainable future for all. With your continued support, we can continue to empower individuals, create opportunities, and build a brighter future.
